Oblivion Night Eye Mod

The filename must not exceed 100 characters or you will cause Oblivion to crash. (Was previously AddNightEyeShader, although you can still use that command as an alias). SetNightEyeShader This allows you to deactivate, activate a shader or add a night eye shader to the night eye effect list. Shader number 0 is always the default Oblivion shader. Page 1 of 1405 - Oblivion Mod Detectives - posted in Oblivion Mod Talk: Inspired by the Mod Detectives threads on the official Oblivion and Morrowind mod forums, here is the Oblivion Mod Detectives thread for Gamingsource! It's pretty simple. If you can't find a mod, you post a description of it here and I or someone else will find it for you.

Night-Eye for D seconds. Night-Eye allows you to see in the dark for D seconds; unlike Light there is no distance limitation on Night-Eye. Night-Eye is the only way of seeing in the dark that does not increase your detectability. (One could increase the brightness of the game, but it would have a side effect of making bright areas blinding.). This mod contains 16 replacement nighteye shaders for oblivion. V1.1 adds the toned down version of the superbright shader which many people have been asking for. This works with or without HDR, and regardless of which shader package you're using. It isn't compatable with Oldblivion, however. This is an omod, and requires obmm 0.9.1 or later.

Night-Eye for D seconds

Night-Eye allows you to see in the dark for D seconds; unlike Light there is no distance limitation on Night-Eye. Night-Eye is the only way of seeing in the dark that does not increase your detectability. (Then again, you could always maximize the brightness.) However, it also makes everything appear blue, and therefore makes it more difficult to pick out items and more difficult to recognize dark corners to sneak in.

Notes

  • Most pieces of enchanted apparel using this effect spell it 'Nighteye' instead of 'Night-Eye'.
  • Night-Eye is one of three spell effects that have only a Duration (no magnitude). It is often better to enchant a piece of jewelry with the effect than to use a spell, unless you must use your apparel slots for more important enchanted items.
  • Rather than take up an item slot just for the Nighteye enchantment, you should consider the free, easily findable Unique Item, Fin Gleam, a Light Helmet which proves to be exorbitantly useful when considering all the potions you didn't need to buy. (Note that it also provides you with 20 ft life detection and water breathing).
  • There are a couple ways of obtaining Night-Eye as a Lesser Power, which means that the effect is available with minimal Magicka cost (however, as with all lesser powers, you do not gain any Illusion experience from casting the spell):
    • Khajiit have the Eye of Night lesser power.
    • Vampires have the Hunter's Sight lesser power (available at 25% vampirism, i.e., for all vampires).
  • The above and spells are the only ways to gain this effect for spell making and enchanting.

Khajiit are cat-like people who come from Elsweyr, known for high intelligence and agility. These traits make them very good thieves and acrobats, but Khajiit are also fearsome warriors. However, they are rarely known to be mages. Khajiit mostly stay on land, but piracy and Skooma trade does draw some to work as sailors.

Khajiit anatomy differs greatly from both men and elves, not only because of their fur, tail, and sometimes toe-walking stance, but also their digestive system and metabolism. Khajiit, Argonians, and Imga are the so-called 'beast races' of Tamriel because of these large differences. Khajiit have a lifespan similar to that of humans. There are no well-documented cases of cross-breeding between Khajiit and other races, though there are rumors of such a thing. The foreign appearance and behavior of Khajiit make them common targets of racial discrimination.

For more information, see the main lore article.

A list of all the Khajiit in Cyrodiil can be found here.

In-Game Description[edit]

Hailing from the province of Elsweyr, they are intelligent, quick, and agile. They make excellent thieves due to their natural agility and unmatched acrobatics skill. All Khajiit can see in the dark.

Gameplay[edit]

Khajiit, like Argonians, make excellent thieves and assassins due to their bonuses in skills typically associated with stealth-oriented classes. They are quick and especially adept at getting into places some of the other races might have trouble with. Eye of Night is a handy lesser power while dungeon-crawling or for seeing at night, when many thieves and assassins do their work. Their other greater power, Eye of Fear, is also useful and is not affected by Spell Efficiency, which often ruins Demoralize spells at higher levels. If you are playing a thief character, it may help to choose The Thief Birthsign to boost your stealth-oriented skills. Another suitable birthsign, especially for male Khajiit, is The Lady, as it gives a boost to endurance and willpower, somewhat making up for the male Khajiit's penalty to those attributes. Along with being a brilliant stealth race, male Khajiit are also well suited for combat classes such as barbarians, archers, or custom light armor/blade/bow combat warrior classes because of their bonuses to blade, light armor, and hand to hand, and their increased agility attribute. Additionally, unlike female Khajiit, males do not have decreased strength.

Enemy Khajiit are primarily encountered as Bandits, including the infamous Highwaymen, clad in light armor and wielding blunt weapons.
